A very old tradition in Catholic families is Shrove Tuesday.
All the goodies from the pantry – eggs, butter, sugar and flour – were combined to have a feast before the Season of Lent.
And pancakes were in order, perhaps topped with jam or even cream.
The season of Lent is a time of fasting, prayer and almsgiving, reflecting the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert.
Here are some images of our community gathering on Shrove Tuesday to sample Gail and Anne’s finest pancakes.
